While in Orlando, I stumbled on a second dead mall, Pointe Orlando (Festival Bay Mall was the first). The Muvico was empty, and the Johnny Rockets was giving out FREE balloons to every single customer that walked in and free cash to use at the jukebox. I guess they were going out of business.
They're doing this renovation to make it look more sophisticated and St. Augustine-type lokking, it used to be bright and lively, now it's gonna be all white. They started with the front of the mall, and you couldn't see that sign that read "We're still open!"
Needless to say, the 9 year old center was in decay. It's sad to see this once-cool place being turned into a mall whose parking garage will be emptying those corvettes and mustangs and bringing in Mercury Grand Marquis and Buick Centuries.
Don't get me wrong, it'll look nice, but it just won't be the same.
