The Hamilton Mall is Alive again!!

The Hamilton Mall, in Mays Landing, New Jersey, has been recovered from being dead. Just recently, there's a spree of shoppers coming, when usually the parking lot would be empty.

This [bad] photo, taken in June 2005, shows how un-crowded the Macy's is. It's changed for the better.

Yes, yes I know it's a poor photo.

Some Lesson

This guy was "teaching his son how to drive", and his son wound up doing backward donuts around the parking lot, and somehow landed up top of the base of a lamp post, which was knocked down. Note the skidmarks from the donuts. Nobody was injured, and there was only slight bumper damage.

Taken at the parking lot of the Mystic Islands Park in Little Egg Harbor, NJ.

Back To The Future: The Ride is now in the Past

R.I.P. 1990-2006

Yes, Universal Orlando's best ride should be gone any day now. It's due to be closed sometime in September 2006. I paid an unknowingly last visit to BTTF:TR in August, right befre I found out that it's being dismantled. The above photo was taken in the Queue in August 2006. Don't worry, you're not alone... I have no idea what those big white balls were, too.

It's about time it closed, though. On the ride, you travel to 2025. I guess in 1990, the clock stating that you were traveling to 2025 was pretty far off. Now that it's 2006, it's running out of time -- and fast!!

The rides been in operation for 16 years... seems fast, but another 16 and you're in 2028... 3 years after 2025 (a.k.a. what was supposed to be "the future") Then the ride would have to be called Back to the Past.

Suburbs

Ahh, Cokkie Cutter subdivisions...

Isn't their archirecture inspiring? This such subdivision is located in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey.

Chair house has got a New Chair!

After a severe tropical storm, the chair on the Chair House in West Creek, New Jersey (A section of Eagleswood) has been replaced. It was rumored that the previous owner used to sit on the chair each day to show off his climbing skills.

The house was used to cover up a water tower on LBI, and was shipped across the bay to its present location. A Flickr member said how in the 30's, it was a gas station called Lindy's and had a propeller. There's a house with a propeller on LBI, I think in Harvey Cedars. Maybe Loveladies, I'm not sure.

There are like 3 victorian lampposts out front, but they don't light up.

Pointe Orlando is STILL OPEN!!!

While in Orlando, I stumbled on a second dead mall, Pointe Orlando (Festival Bay Mall was the first). The Muvico was empty, and the Johnny Rockets was giving out FREE balloons to every single customer that walked in and free cash to use at the jukebox. I guess they were going out of business.

They're doing this renovation to make it look more sophisticated and St. Augustine-type lokking, it used to be bright and lively, now it's gonna be all white. They started with the front of the mall, and you couldn't see that sign that read "We're still open!"

Needless to say, the 9 year old center was in decay. It's sad to see this once-cool place being turned into a mall whose parking garage will be emptying those corvettes and mustangs and bringing in Mercury Grand Marquis and Buick Centuries.

Don't get me wrong, it'll look nice, but it just won't be the same.

Festival Bay Mall is actually Dead

Okay, I saw a profile of the mall on Deadmalls.com, and when I saw the full parking lot, I thought that the mall wasn't dead anymore. The "anchors" are small, The Ron Jon Surf shop is a dissapointment if you're used to the one in LBI or Cocoa Beach. The only chain businesses here are Ron Jon, Cinemark, Bass Pro Shops, Steve & Barry's, Fuddrucker's, Auntie Anne's Pretzels, A&W, Long Jon Silvers, Subway, Nine West, Icing, Journey's, Jones New York, Pac Sun, Hot Topic, Vans, Charlotte Russe, and BCBG MaxAzaria, the rest are basically mom-and-pops, and the majority of the chain stores were outlets.
There was this outlet mall across the street being torn down, unfortunately, no photos.
I think the areas in decline because it's at an inconvenient location at the north end of I-Drive in Orlando, Florida.
